This Privacy Policy describes how ScriptCam ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). ScriptCam is a teleprompter and video creation tool that lets you read scripts, record video, add overlays, and export content.
By using ScriptCam, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Stored on Your Device
ScriptCam is designed to work primarily on your device. By default, the following stays on your phone or tablet unless you choose a feature that sends data to our servers:
- Scripts: Text you write or import for the teleprompter.
- Slides and images: Images you add as visual content during recording.
- Recorded videos: Video and audio you capture, including exports saved to your photo library or shared through your device's share sheet.
- App preferences: Settings such as scroll speed, theme, and feature toggles stored locally.
1.2 Permissions and On-Device Processing
ScriptCam may request access to the following device features. Processing for recording, face masking, and effects happens on your device unless stated otherwise:
- Camera: To preview and record video while you read your script.
- Microphone: To record audio with your videos.
- Screen recording: When you choose layouts that capture your screen or slides.
- Photo library: To import images for slides or save exported videos. We only access items you select.
- Notifications: Optional push notifications about product updates or features, if you grant permission.
1.3 Information Sent to Our Servers
When you use certain features, limited data is sent to our backend (hosted on Amazon Web Services):
- Device registration: On each app launch we receive an anonymous device identifier, platform (iOS or Android), operating system version, app version, and optionally a push notification token if you have granted notification permission. We do not require an account to use ScriptCam.
- Document import: If you import a PDF or Word document to create a script, the file is sent to our server temporarily to extract text. Optionally, extracted text may be sent to an AI service to clean up formatting. We do not retain imported documents after processing is complete.
1.4 Analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used (for example, which screens are viewed and general usage events). This helps us improve ScriptCam. Firebase may collect device and usage information as described in Google's privacy policy.
1.5 In-App Purchases
If you purchase premium features (such as watermark removal), payment is processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details. The store may share purchase status with us so we can unlock the features you bought.

We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve ScriptCam's features
- Extract text from documents you choose to import
- Register your device for optional push notifications
- Validate in-app purchases and unlock premium features
- Analyze aggregate usage to fix bugs and improve the user experience
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Third-Party Services
ScriptCam uses the following third-party services that may process information:
- Google Firebase: Analytics and push notification delivery (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Server infrastructure for device registration and document text extraction.
- DeepSeek: Optional AI text normalization when you import PDF or Word documents.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: In-app purchase processing.
- GIPHY: GIF overlays may load content from GIPHY's public CDN when you add GIF effects.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local-First Design
Your scripts, recordings, and most app data remain on your device. You control exports and sharing through your device's built-in tools.
4.2 Server Data
Device registration records are stored in a MongoDB database on AWS. Imported documents are processed in memory and are not stored long-term on our servers.
4.3 Security Measures
- Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS/TLS
- Access controls on cloud infrastructure
- Minimal collection — we only request data needed for the features you use
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers: With vendors (such as AWS, Google, and DeepSeek) that help us operate the App, under contractual obligations to protect your data.
- Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights, users, or safety.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required by law.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You can:
- Manage permissions: Revoke camera, microphone, photo library, or notification access in your device settings at any time.
- Delete local data: Remove scripts and recordings from the App or uninstall ScriptCam to delete locally stored data.
- Opt out of notifications: Disable push notifications in your device settings.
- Request information or deletion: Contact us using the details below to ask about device registration data or request its deletion.
7. Children's Privacy
ScriptCam is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers operate. By using ScriptCam, you consent to such transfers.
9. Data Retention
- On-device data: Retained until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Device registration: Retained while the App remains installed and periodically updated on launch; you may request deletion by contacting us.
- Imported documents: Not retained after text extraction completes.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL and change the "Last Updated" date. Please review this page periodically for changes.
